Final presentation at HCL office (4th of December, Friday)

In 4th of December, the day of final presentation at HCL office.  On this day, we presented to the employer and got feedbacks from them. Although it was incomplete the project, we still learned allot of thing through this project. Considering the difficulty of this project, I am very happy that we were able to reach about 70-80% completion of this project. The remaining completion were some due to busy university schedule and some technical issues when we were doing the development.

Trade Show of Final Year Project (13th of November, Friday)

In 13th of November, the day of trade show that every group to demonstrate their final year project in the exhibition. There are many employee from different companies and lecturer in Inti college to visit the trade show. 

We were do demo and presented our project to every visitor that came to our booth. The employee did ask question about what is the challenge of the project. The bigger challenge in this project is the difficulty of the coding, which is sapui5, a new programming language that we used to create this application. We never study this language before and the resources of sapui5 are less to do research on web. Besides, this project is giving us an opportunity to learn and the knowledge about sapui5.

This trade show also giving us a big opportunity to view other groups' project. Lastly, our group did not achieve any award, but we satisfied that what we did in our project. Four of us did our best and put a lot of effort in the project.

Site visit in HCL Axon (4th of November, Wednesday)

In 4th of November, the day of quiz for Final Year Project subject. After completed the 1 hour quiz, my group mate, Jingfei and I went to the HCL Axon to meet the employee, John. Besides, Thean and Giri will do preparation of the brochure and poster for the upcoming trade show of final year project.

John suggested to set an email button in notification bar to enable users to send the notification to inform that the expiration of quotation via email. Unfortunately, the email button is not able to set in the notification bar, because the interface is a codes design in the controller. Therefore, we were discussed another method that to set the email button beside the notification bar.   

Checkpoint 4 (30th of October, Friday)

In 30th of October, we had checkpoint 4 with John, the HCL Axon employee via Skype from 2 pm to 4 pm. The project is 80% done and the 20 % left will be the two functionalities which are the notification and email.     

The Meeting Agenda:
  • Completion of the two remaining functionalities
  • Schedule extended HCL office visit to continue and complete SAP integration (unit testing especially on creation and edit quotation, bug finding, etc)
  • Preparation for the Project Exhibit and Final Presentation
  • Project issues and concerns
  • Question and Answer

The notification and email parts took me for three months to work on it due to the complexity of codes. This is the bigger challenge for me to learn and overcome the problem, by the way I will do my best to fix the problem.

Site visit in HCL Axon (23rd of October, Friday)

In 23rd of October, my group mate Thean & I were attended to the site visiting for the back-end work and the non-functional parts. Unfortunately, we did nothing much due to the server was down and we were not able to do testing of the connection for back-end. 

The encounter problems for notification and email parts are unable to declare the quotation number and the date for expiration. John was willing to assist and check the codes error that implemented.

Site visit in HCL Axon (2nd of October, Friday)

In 2nd of October, Thean and Giri were be there earlier in HCL Axon to finish up the back-end work. Jingfei and I were late to the company due to family issues. We focus and work together on the back-end connection to their database. Jingfei and I(Jacky) will continue the uncompleted functions after the back-end connection is done. 

We do nothing much on that day due to their wireless issues, therefore we cannot do debugging for the back-end work with no wireless connection. So, we went back earlier to continue figure out the notification and email errors.  

Site visit in HCL Axon (25th of September, Friday)

In 25th of September, I(Jacky) did not attend to the site visit due to part-time job. Thean, Giri and Jingfei went to follow up the uncompleted tasks. Also, John provided a document which contains the connection for back-end work. We have to study and understand the document before to implement the codes into the back-end connection. 

Site visit in HCL Axon (18th of September, Friday)

In 23rd of September, Jingfei and I attended to the site visit to continue the back-end work. Besides, Thean and Giri cannot attend due to their academic schedule.

John lead both of us to work on the not functional part which are notification and email. John guided us to use bubbleSort method to implement to the notification part.

Site visit in HCL Axon (11th of September, Friday)

In 11th of September, we suppose have a site visit in HCL Axon to continue the back-end work. Unfortunately, all of us cannot attend to the site visit due to academic assignment. But we will continue the uncompleted tasks at home.

Site visit in HCL Axon (4th of September, Friday)

In 4th of September, my group leader(Thean Zhen Yao),my group mate(Long Jingfei) and I had a site visit in HCL Axon office for back-end work. My another group mate (Giri) was not attend to the site visit due to meeting conflict.

So far, the application is not fully functional yet and there is one of the main function which is Alert and Notification still in progress. 

We were work together with John as there are something that we don't understand and can ask him for guideline. Zhen Yao will be responsible on the connection of application, while Jingfei and I will continue work on Alert and Notification.

Official Checkpoint 3 (1st of September, Tuesday)

In 1st of September, we had a checkpoint 3 with the employer (John) via video conferencing in UOW office room. The agenda for the meeting is as below:

  • Current status of the development
  • Informal demo on all the progress that have been done so far (including the Alert and Notification)
  • Finalize the schedule of students' visit to HCL AXON - KL Office for back-end work
First of all, there are few functions that are not probably work including the Email and Notification, we will follow up the mistaken from the application. Also, we did finalize the schedule to visit to their office for back-end work, the date set to visit will be on:
  • 4th of September
  • 11th of September
  • 18th of September
  • 25th of September

Starting of the project part 2 - 1st Checkpoint (13th of August)

Today we had a checkpoint with the employer(John) via using skype and teleconferencing in inti level 3 meeting room. Today checkpoint agenda is as below:
  • Current status of the development
  • Pending objects to be develop
  • Upcoming plan / schedule discussion / project timeline
  • INTI students’ schedule on working here in KL office
  • Request for GEO WIFI in KL office for the student to connect into our company SAP ECC

We have emailed back some of our concern and our schedule to the employer. For further information we have to wait till he response to the mail.

Official Checkpoint 2 with employer (9th of June, Tuesday)

In 9th of June, we had a final checkpoint 2 with HCL Axon employer via Skype from 10am to 12pm. The project is temporarily done and functioning as well. Besides, we met the internet connection issue during the presentation, therefore we could not present to the employer. My group mate, Giri, he was taking responsible to present the final work to the employer since he was at home.

Preparations for Checkpoint 2 (7th of June, Sunday)

We are doing preparation of the project for the official checkpoint 2 on next Tuesday which is 9th of June from 10 am to 12 pm. We will presenting the completed application in this checkpoint, however the progress are not as expected since its almost end of the semester and more work in university have to be completed.

Unofficial checkpoint 2 with employee (25th of May, Monday)

I, Ng Weng Meng, my group mate Giri and JingFei had an unofficial checkpoint with the employer via Skype at 9pm to 10pm. Our leader, Thean Zhen Yao, he could not join for the meeting due to emergency reason.

For this checkpoint, we had completed to display:
1) The list of quotation 
2) Quotation details 
3) Item Details 
4) Search Quotation
5) and Filters that are functional.

As for my part, I did the listing and viewing of quotation. Before that, I did it and display the quotation wrongly when the unofficial checkpoint 1. For functional part, I did the search quotation and it's work. 

Zhen Yao is work on the conversion of quotation to sales order.

JingFei is work on the filters that contain Valid to Date, Net Value, and Status. 

Giri is work on the create and edit quotation.  

In functional part, we are able to create a new quotation, unfortunately we are not able to edit quotation, because the coding is not working with it.

    Status and Sales Organization,

    This search function it only able to search the quotation number.

   Once user click on one of the quotation that display in the list, it will display the quotation details,      customer details and item details.

   The item detail is selectable, once user click on one of it, it will display to this page. Also, the
    reverse button is return to Quotation Details. 

    This is the filters that contain Valid to Date, Net Value and Status.

    This is the mock data for quotation.

In conclusion, we do not disappoint the employer and had a good feedback from them. After the checkpoint, we received the new specification which is sales order and notification. The next due date is on 1st of June which is the unofficial checkpoint 3.

Unofficial checkpoint 1 with employee (18th of May, Monday)

I, Thean Zhen Yao had an unofficial checkpoint with my employers at 9 pm to 10 pm on Monday (18/5/2015) via Skype. Since we were unable to meet their previous schedule, it had to be reschedule and this check point is to see the work progress of conversion of quotation to sales order and listing and viewing of quotation.

Employer are also changing the person who will be in charged of helping us to resolve any technical questions due to their staff being assigned to another project. But he told us that we are welcome to email them anytime with the team cc in it so that we know of each other progress. Me and the employer are also thinking of maybe setting up a Skype  group so we can do a calling or meeting anytime over the internet with them supervising us.

Jacky did the quotation mock data's and he's working on listing and viewing of quotation. (due date 18/5/2015) 
-The data shown was wrong, since his understanding of specification was not up to what i expected, but i have brief him on it again so hopefully by 25/5/2015,Monday it is proper this time.

I, Zhen Yao am working on the conversion of quotation to sales order.(due date 25/5/2015) 
- I am currently working on it at the same time checking on others progress. I understand what are the requirements of the employer better during this unofficial checkpoint as the explain to me what is suppose to happen step by step so hopefully i can present this on 25/5/2015,Monday.

JingFei is suppose to work on the date function. (due date  18/5/2015)
-It was incomplete since it was not working properly so employer wishes to see it working on the 25/5/2015

Giri is suppose to do a create and edit quotation form but employer wishes to see a rough template of the create quotation without the working function on 25/5/2015,Monday . (due date 29/5/2015)
-Waiting for him to send me some screenshots of work done till so far.

Conclusion
If we are able to meet the schedule, we will not be so behind the original schedule.

We went for a site meeting at HCL Axon KL again from 2pm to 5pm, and had a teleconferencing with the Penang side.

Weekly Report (20th of April - 26th of April)

Flow chart diagram by Giri and Thean

Flow chart diagram shows how a progress is performed. Base on the sequence of the steps, we can know what will happen in the next steps if we follow one condition. As a basic tool, it also helps in making decision. Once the problem occur, it is easy  to see which part lead to issues.

We using class diagram to understand a system in better and simple way. It is represents the object orientation of a system. During use case diagram we know what the actor include in the project and what is the role of them.

Final year project
